Purpose

To promote and enable innovative research that identifies, interrogates and addresses relevant health issues at all levels with the intention of developing internationally acclaimed researchers through capacity development while ensuring that departmental research activities comply with the Faculty of Health Sciences and university's vision, policies and requirements.

Mission Statements

  • To utilise the infrastructure and expertise within our department to support and empower postgraduate students and collaborative emerging researchers within the department while training them in diverse areas of pharmacy research as listed below.
  • Regular training workshops on aspects of research such as reading and scientific writing, referencing, data collecting and analysis, creative presentation, analytical and grant and funding application skills are provided as a foundation for the development and improvement of research skills.
  • The researchers in our department, including postgraduate students, are empowered to develop interpersonal skills such as leadership, critical thinking, self-motivation, teamwork, planning and organising by encouraging them to participate in inter-departmental, faculty and inter-institutional collaborative research and community engagement
  • The department and faculty research committees assure the quality of research through internal review of proposals. The ethics committees’ further review research involving vulnerable groups and animals.
