I completed my undergraduate studies at North-West University (NWU, Potchefstroom Campus) and qualified as a pharmacist. Thereafter, I enrolled for post-graduate studies and completed an MSc and PhD in molecular pharmacology at NWU. My research focused on drug-receptor interactions on various models. I joined the University of Michigan (UM, Ann Arbor Campus) to complete a post-doctoral fellowship in molecular pharmacology.
The research was a continuation of my post-graduate studies and focused on proteomics, specifically regulator of G protein-signalling (RGS) proteins. I returned to South Africa and joined the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN, Westville Campus) to continue locally with my academic and research career. While at UKZN, my research focused on the biological activities of natural products and synthetic derivatives thereof. I joined Rhodes University and my interest in clinical research expanded. The research focused on drug utilisation in patients diagnosed with psychiatric disorders. Recently, I joined Nelson Mandela University to continue with my academic and research career.
