Dr Kritiotis-Germanis currently heads the clinical pharmacy and pharmacology division at the Nelson Mandela University. She is a senior lecturer with more than 15 years’ experience in pharmacology and pharmacy education. Dr Kritiotis-Germanis has a proven track record of being an excellent lecturer, leader, and communicator, with a reputation for adhering to the highest standards of personal and team excellence. She has supervised several post-graduate students in various subject areas, including inter alia: pharmacovigilance, antimicrobial stewardship and chemistry. She has a keen interest in pursuing research on the clinical platform and has co-authored a few publications.

She was nominated to serve on the Provincial Causality Assessment Committee for Pharmacovigilance in the Eastern Cape in 2022. She has been involved in the development and presentation of a short learning programme entitled Clinical Skills for Hospital Pharmacists that was introduced in January 2024. Dr Kritiotis-Germanis is registered as a practicing pharmacist with the South African Pharmacy Council and has been working as a locum in the retail and hospital pharmacy settings for the past 15 years.

Current non-degree Research Projects:

  1. I am currently involved in several non-degree research projects within pharmacy education, focusing on enhancing student engagement through active learning strategies, improving clinical decision-making skills in pharmacy students, and evaluating the impact of game-based learning strategies to reinforce concepts taught during lectures. These projects aim to contribute to the advancement of teaching methodologies in pharmacy education.
