I obtained my B. Pharm from the University of the Western Cape (2015) and M.Sc. in Pharmaceutical Science focused on nanomedicine and drug delivery from the Nelson Mandela University (2017). In 2019, I was appointed at the Nelson Mandela University (NMU), as a Lecturer in Pharmacy Practice Discipline, Pharmacy Department.  I teach mostly on pharmacovigilance and Pharmacoeconomics.

I am currently pursuing my Ph.D. in antimicrobial-loaded nanoparticles for identification and eradication of biofilms in chronic wound management. My postgraduate studies have been successfully funded through NRF, SA-MRC and/or NMU who made sure that my research maintains it momentum. I am currently the co-ordinator of the nanoscience programme in the Pharmacy Department and actively involved in co-supervision of MSc nanoscience students. This role has allowed me to engage in significant research discussion around strategies to enhance nanotechnology development in the African continent.

My research is focused on the application of nanoparticles towards treatment of chronic wound particularly for Cancer wounds, Diabetic foot ulcer and burn wounds. I use the nanotechnology technique to target antimicrobial resistance and for properties such as target delivery, stability and other formulation issues. My research is constantly growing and improving to assist the health needs of people both nationally and internationally.

I am committed to empowering myself and other women around me and my favourite quote is “Be the kind of a woman who inspires other women want to up their game.
